How to Print From Your Phone for Seniors
You can print photos, emails, and documents directly from your phone — no computer needed. Here's how to do it on an iPhone or Android.
📱 Printing from an iPhone or iPad
iPhones use a feature called AirPrint to print wirelessly. Most modern printers (HP, Canon, Epson, Brother) support AirPrint.
-
1Open what you want to print. This could be a photo from your Photos app, an email from your Mail app, or a webpage in Safari.
-
2Tap the Share button. It looks like a box with an upward arrow pointing out of it. It's usually at the bottom of the screen.
-
3Scroll down and tap "Print." You may need to scroll down in the list of options to find it.
-
4Tap "Select Printer." Your iPhone will search for nearby printers. Tap your printer's name when it appears.
-
5Choose how many copies you want with the plus (+) and minus (−) buttons.
-
6Tap "Print" in the top-right corner. Your printer will start printing!
🤖 Printing from an Android Phone
Android phones use the built-in Print feature, which works with most wireless printers.
-
1Open what you want to print — a photo, email, or document.
-
2Tap the three dots (⋮) or the Share button.
-
3Tap "Print." A print preview screen will appear.
-
4Tap the printer name dropdown at the top. Choose your printer from the list. If your printer doesn't appear, tap "Add printer."
-
5Tap the Print button (it looks like a printer icon or a circle with a checkmark).

My Printer Won't Print — Common Fixes
-
1Restart your printer. Turn it off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on.
-
2Check both are on the same Wi-Fi. Your phone and printer must be on the same home network. Look at the Wi-Fi name on both.
-
3Restart your router. Unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug back in. Wait 2 minutes.
-
4Download your printer's app. HP Smart, Canon PRINT, Epson iPrint, or Brother iPrint&Scan make printing much easier from a phone.
